Role of "Road & Highways" in Pollution of Delhi

Delhi: Road plays a crucial role in mitigating pollution in Delhi, Delhi is a national capital of India. Major pollution contributors are vehicle plying on the road, namely Truck, Bus, Cars, Bike and Cranes etc.

Due to heavy traffic and congestion on the road leads to slow speed of vehicle that means the vehicle engines efficiency drops drastically as a result fuel consumption increased. Since more fuel burns hence more pollution in the air.

Additionally, due to slow traffic, the time taken by commuters increased this make the vehicle engines ON for longer time. Therefore, The Fuel consumption increases that leads to more pollution in the air.

These above the two ample amount of pollution contributors can be minimized by making congestion free traffic in national capital.  To make this happen our Union Minister of Transport and Highway Shree Nitin Gadkari Ji given a blueprint to solve problem of traffic congestion.

Minister said that the ministry is widening roads, upgrading and developing the arterial national highway network in and around the Delhi. The ministry has taken up road infrastructure projects in and around Delhi of more than 51,000 crore. These include projects such as the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, the Dwarka Expressway, UER-2 (Urban Extension Road) , DND interchange, and Kalandikunj and Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), among others.

Hence, by reducing traffic congestion in Delhi & NCR(National Capital Region), The air pollution can be reduced substantially.
